Our yacht club was founded as a workingman's club designed to promote social activity in and around the area of boating. The current situation of social distancing makes getting the club up and running and the season started a daunting task, if even possible. To that end, the flag officers have come up with a plan based upon the current status of the world and with the ever changing rules and guidelines, please keep it mind, it may be updated shortly:
General Members Meeting
There will be no spring General member meeting on April 3rd. This will be done via email and all committee heads should send their reports in to Secretary Carol Johnson (email@example.com) by March 30th. Carol will put together a report of the minutes as they would have been presented. They can be voted on at a later time.
The first work party, initially scheduled for April 4th, will be postponed until April 18th. The Bridge will reassess as we near the 18th and confirm or adjust the plan based on news at that time. There may be some small projects with less than 10 persons involved. This will be on a voluntary basis and will be done outside the club. These may include getting the work boat ready, putting the dinghy docks in place, and some work on the main floats.
Getting water and electricity turned on to the floats will be considered. Once the dock system is operational we'll turn our attention to the interior and exterior work that needs to be done for the house. This situation is very fluid and there is no guarantee the club will "open" in a timely fashion.
The Opening Dinner dance will be canceled and possibly rolled into another activity during the season.
Many of the other clubs in the area have closed their buildings and suspended their work parties. We are still assessing how to try to move forward in having a season at SSYC. The traditional timelines of getting things done may be altered, including putting your moorings in and removing your winter logs. The club house may be closed and off limits. Access to a working dock system may be the best we can hope for at this time. We will communicate via Constant Contact and the SSYC web page.
Please stay safe, adhere to the guidelines published on this subject and stay tuned to your email. Your safety and that of your family is the most important task at hand. Thank you.
